Signs That You Might Need Your Water Well Repaired.
Your Faucets Start Sputtering
Oh yes, the dreaded sputtering. Frustrating we know. Definitely a sign of your water well-needing repair. You turn on the faucets and before you see any water coming out there’s an air blast and short bursts of water spit out before it flows normally. This means typically that air in your system (if it continues) could be your water well pump needs servicing or replacement. It may be a simple fix like changing a valve or the pipe that is connected to the pump is damaged. Another possible reason for the dreaded sputter is that your pump may need to be lowered due to the water table dropping.
You Hear Strange Sounds, Which May Indicate That Your Water Well Needs Repair.
Do you hear grinding humming or other strange noises when you turn on your faucet? These are signs of a water well pump problem where you need your water well pump repaired or replaced.
Damaged Well Caps
A properly installed well cap or cover is very important because contaminants can enter your home’s water supply. If the cover on top of your well casing is damaged, animals could crawl inside, decompose, causing bacteria levels to rise, this can cause digestive issues if consumed. The well cap should be at least six inches off the ground, and homeowners should avoid growing plants or building anything around the well cap as well as generally being aware of making sure nothing can enter or seep into the well through the well cap.
Your Well Water Smells Bad.
Do You Smell Rotten Eggs? Hydrogen sulfide gas (H2S) can give water a “rotten egg” taste or odor. This gas can occur in wells anywhere, gas is naturally occurring – a result of decay and chemical reactions with soil and rocks. So now you know. It can be treated. Please call us for your first attempt at chlorination, this way we can show you how to do it correctly yourself the next time it is needed.
Your Well Water Tastes or Looks Bad.
Anytime there is a noticeable change in your well water taste, smell, or appearance, it is best to have it checked by a professional. Changes in your home’s water could indicate the presence of many different things. Best to have the system checked as a safety precaution.
